The McLaren M Eleven B concept was the winner of a design competion by McLaren for final year students of Transport Design at IED (Istituto Italiano di Design) in Turin, Italy.

The brief was to design “A 320 km/h plus sports car” for McLaren, and the car should provide the owner Formula 1 technology for the road and superb dynamic and aerodynamic performance.

The 39 IED students were divided into 14 groups, each presenting a proposed McLaren supercar as a 1:4 scale model.

The McLaren M Eleven B came out as the overall winner, its designers used a wide variety of inspiration, from the animal world to aircraft and racing motorcycles.

Constructed from carbon fibre the McLaren M Eleven B would benefit from Formula 1 style lateral vents, undefloor aerodynamics and exchangeable body panels which could be swapped in favour of more track-biased components.The interior of the McLaren M Eleven B concept benefits from a light and airy cockpitwithexcellent visbility.

As often happens in such cases, the automaker itself, in this case, Mazda Motor, does not have any official relation to the project, so to speak of any potential serial embodiment of the concept car can only be hypothetical. Nevertheless, the proposed project is of interest precisely because of its consistency in Mazda corporate style simultaneously with the introduction of something new, which is not peculiar for the Mazda vehicles.

The author of the RX-Z project is a student from Romania, Adrian Ciprian. While developing the RX-Z, he tried in the first place, to pay attention to design, using the main elements of the Mazda style, including the pentagonal lattice-”Smile”, which other independent designers, offering a vision of Mazda cars, stubbornly ignore. The author has preserved one of the main elements of the layout – rear door, swinging open against the motion: a similar pattern is found on modern production cars, perhaps, only in exceptional cases.

The fact that, in the opinion of the author, RX-Z should not have a rotary engine, was very surprising. The author is convinced that the best would be the presence of a hybrid power plant, which will include a diesel and two electric motors. Such an approach is unlikely to be used by Mazda Motor to create next-generation RX, since this name of the vehicle is an acronym that implies to a rotary engine, but in addition, the company continues to actively develop such power plants, which somehow remains its original card.

This Honda Skydeck concept car is a six-seater minivan with three rows of seats. The third row can be folded, thereby gaining additional space for luggage. Seats of the second row with the help of actuators move back and forth.

Although, Honda officials have stated that there are no plans for production, rumor has it the Skydeck previews the next generation FR-V MPV.

Honda Skydeck has unusual front panel, which is focused in front of the driver and gives more space for the front passenger. The first two rows of seats are located under a huge panoramic roof that adds visual space vehicle of the cabin. Separate topic of conversation is the car doors. The front ones are opened up in the style of Lamborghini, rear ones are shifted back.

Externally the car looks sporty and fast, thanks to the low landing. Unlike ordinary minivans, roof of Honda Skydeck smoothly moves into a small rear spoiler. Instead of rear mirrors the concept has received cameras, which are placed rather high.

Under the hood of the car there is a hybrid engine, but its characteristics have not been announced yet.

In Japan, the auto manufacturer is expected to show 6 of its new products. However, the most interesting of them seems to be Land Glider. The car in the style a la Micra seems to be a toy. However, the way it looks is much more serious.

And in general, design of this concept car is what we need. Smooth body lines are perfectly intertwined with sharp chopped forms of sidewalls and doors.

By the way, it is impossible not to mention about doors. They are also quite remarkable, especially in the unfastened state – they are like the wings of a butterfly, and the car begins to resemble this creature.

Nissan Land Glider Concept, despite its narrowness, is designed for two seats – the second passenger is placed behind the driver.

As for the rest of the debutants, Nissan is going to bring to this exhibition Electric car Leaf, the sales of which on the world market is scheduled for late 2010, conceptual Qazana – a completely new type of crossover, which debuted at Geneva Motor Show in March 2009. In addition, the Japanese for the first time will see the new sedan Fuga, the flagship model line of Nissan, as well as NV200 Vanette Taxi and the new mini-MPV Roox, which will be released on the Japanese market before the end of the year.

Toyota has never launched a coupe. Cumbersome Toyota Camry Solara shouldn’t be counted. But Toyota had such exceptional vehicles as Celica and Supra, which after removal from the production have left many inconsolable fans around the world.

Subaru doesn’t produce coupe as well. Although the sport has a direct relationship with it, this company has long enjoyed a reputation in the fierce rally battles. Therefore, production coupe is a justified step for both companies.

Toyota owns the control package of share of Subaru as both companies have decided to join forces. Perhaps a crisis was an opportune moment. It remains less than a month and we will be able to see the fruit of this cooperation – Toyota FT-86 coupe at the Tokyo salon.

This is only a concept. Although as hinted the Japanese, the car will be put into a serial production with minimal changes, which affect mostly futuristic interior but not exterior. The car turned out quite compact. Length is 4,16 m, width is 1,76 m, height – 1,26 m and the wheelbase – 2,57 m. Landing formula is 2 +2. Under the hood there is a two-liter Subaru boxer engine with the output of 200 hp which is mated with six-speed mechanical transmission.

All the power of a herd of two hundred horses sent to the rear axle, although with time is not excluded and the emergence of all-wheel drive versions. We must not forget that in the development of machinery took part Subaru, known for its all-wheel drive madness. The design of the concept car was developed by Europeans in Toyota design center ED2, located in Nice.

It is expected that the sales of the new sports coupe will begin in the middle of 2010 and it will cost about 20,000 dollars in Japan.

Needless to say, that Toyota FT-86 will have a “twin-brother” marked Subaru. Technical filling of both cars will be the same, but the design will be different. It is possible that the coupe from Subaru will cost a bit more expensive and that it will use wheel-drive system while Toyota will offer a simpler, “budget” option. We can only wait for the official presentation, where the Japanese will certainly talk about their future plans.

Art. Shape. Technology. Ettore Bugatti and his son Jean were guided by these three principles in creating their vehicles. They wanted each successive model to be even better, stronger and faster. Thus they always uncompromisingly experimented with materials. Thus, Bugatti is one of the first auto manufacturers, who have used aluminum in engines, shell and wheels.

These same principles were used when creating Bugatti 16 C Galibier. For example, dark-blue elements of the body are made of carbon fiber and shiny fenders and doors are made of polished aluminum.

With this concept car Bugatti claims to win the leading position among the producers of 4-door cars.

Characteristic for this brand grille, large round lights and passing through the crest of a car shell resembles the classic Type 57, by Jean Bugatti.

Opening on both sides of the engine compartment lid hides an 8-liter W16 engine with two-stage compressor supercharging. This means that along with regular gasoline, it can run on ethanol. For the concept vehicle there are specially created ceramic brakes.

The interior design catches the eye; there are only two centrally located sets. They inform about the speed and power expended for their testimony can be observed even by rear passengers.

Especially for Bugatti 16 C Galibier Swiss manufacturer of luxury watches Parmigiani created a unique watch lined with a refined leather strap. In the car, it is placed in the center of the front console, but it can be removed and worn on the wrist. This element brings a special interior refinement.

“Galibier” means not only the hardest alpine pass, included in the bicycle races Tour de France. At one time this name belonged to unsurpassed, sporty and elegant 4-door version of Bugatti Type 57.

The first vehicle is called E-1 and looks like a shark or an éclair on wheels. But once you learn that this Sportcar reaches up to 100km in just 5 seconds, moreover, that inside the electric engine power there are 148 horses, all smiles disappear. And it weighs only 450 pounds.

Some batteries, and their 86 pieces, have a mass of 86 kilograms.  But it accelerated, not only to hundreds, and still goes and goes on until you hit the speed of the electronic limiter at 250 kilometers per hour.

Yes, that’s because of this new concept car that Tesla and Fisker have remained far behind in technological development. E-1 is fully charged in just half an hour…

According to the developers, the battery is enough for 300 kilometers, and their lifespan is limited to approximately ten years. Production of E-1 is scheduled for early 2010. If you prefer something more mundane, you should pay attention to E2.

It’s even difficult to call mundane. Enzo or Reventon would look in this way, if they were electric cars. E-2 will be launched in 2011, and it will have four electric engines, one for each wheel. It is expected to weight 900 kilograms.

Mitsubishi Motors extended details on the new product, which intend to show at the Tokyo Motor Show. SUV PX-MiEV is a further development of electric car and is gradually enforced by the company, but, being a hybrid, has a considerable chance for serial production, albeit in much altered form.

Hybrid propulsion system, which Mitsubishi PX-MiEV is equipped with, is built on the original scheme. There are two electric engines: they are installed in the front and rear of the car and rotate, respectively, for the front and rear axle.

In addition, the composition of the set also includes a 1.6-liter petrol engine which, depending on specific conditions, can be used for its intended purpose, transferring torque to the front axle, or to act as an electric generator, recharging batteries, feeding both electric engines. The car is equipped with the S-AWC all-wheel drive control system, adapted to work with a hybrid setup, which is already familiar to us from the production models.

The company does not lead indicators of total power of the hybrid installation, planning to release the detailed specifications at the time of the official presentation at the motor show.

Speaking about the design of its development, Mitsubishi claims that considerable attention was paid to aerodynamics, even taking into account the fact that it is an SUV. The car manufacturer tried to raise fuel economy: the company claims that on one liter of fuel PX-MiEV is able to overcome 50 km.

However, it is unspecified, on what cycle of motion is this indicator achieved.

In parallel with the improvement of the technical component, the developers take care of interior, trying to make it cozy, despite rather brutal design.

As it was noted by the official representatives of the Spanish company, a sports wagon SEAT Ibiza Sport Tourer is more a production car than a concept, although the official debut of the serial model will take place within next eight months.

Stylish and modern Ibiza Sport Tourer with a panoramic glass roof has 4.22 m length. The volume of luggage is 410 liters, but if you fold the rear seats, the storage space will increase significantly.

Design of IBZ Concept is made in view of the corporate identity to the Spanish SEAT company. This novelty has recognizable grille, sports bumpers, exhaust system with two pipes, as well as LED head and rear optics and unusual forms of exterior mirrors.

One of the basic engines for SEAT Ibiza Sport Tourer will be 1.4 L TFSI engine with capacity of about 180 hp. According to an official press release the Spanish concern officially confirmed that the sales of the production version of this concept car will start next year.

The new concept of Renault was developed in order to meet ever increasing needs of environmentally friendly vehicle. But at the same time the concept car enables the buyer to acquire a beautiful car.

The Renault Zoe Zero Emission Z.E. has 4,1 m length, 1,8 m width, 1.5 m height, 2.6 m wheel base. The energy is generated by lithium-ion batteries and electric system and can provide power of approximately 70kW (95 hp) and maximum torque of 225Nm.

The automaker has not made any announcement on how long it takes from the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. But it is already reported that its maximum speed is 140 km/h.

Behind the car there is a rectangular spoiler with LEDs, which is put forward at a speed exceeding 90 km/h. The signal of the brake is located on the roof.

One of the technical features of Zoe ZE Concept is the roof, which protects the interior of the car both from heating and cooling. Front and rear lights are protected from small strokes with polyurethane gel, and the batteries are cooled by air from the air intakes which are placed on the front and rear.

There is one more important feature: the air coming from the climate control system to the car is mixed with a hydrating substance that protects the skin of the driver and passengers from … excessive humidity. There is also a function of salon aromatization – to create a special mood with the use of different flavors, as well as the function of Detox, by which the interior is cleaned from harmful substances. These systems are developed together with the office of L’Oreal firm.
