Chevrolet Unveils New Concepts At Detroit

The Detroit auto show has been the home for showcasing several concept cars by several car manufacturing moguls. There are a lot of interesting innovations cited at the Auto show so this has always been the venue of several innovations till date. Chevrolet is no exception and has been successful to provide some of the best cars to the common mass. They have made some stunning concept cars and have converted them to reality to cater the desires of the people.

This time Chevrolet has planned to show case two new concept cars at the Detroit Auto show. They have unveiled the Code 130R and the Tru 140S. Both of the coupes are designed to seat four people at a time. The fuel efficiency promised by the car engineers is 40 mpg. The Chevrolet engineers have seek public inputs for incorporating their interiors as both the concept cars do not have a particular interior to them.

The lay out of the Code 130R concept is more of a muscle car. It has two doors and rear wheel drive, where as the design of the Tru 140S is more of an exotic sports car with its front wheel drive, but the manufacturers have promised to keep it under the purchasing capacity of the common people. Both of the concept cars have incorporated 1.4 liter turbo engine with a 150 horse power capability.

The manufacturers have hinted that both the cars will be priced near about $ 20,000 each. There are several features incorporated in the cars as well, that is the outcome of the feedbacks and suggestions taken from the consumers they consulted while making these concepts. The inclusion of Wi Fi and the integration of smart phones have also suggested by the consumers and which have been hopefully included in the car as well.

General Motors Unveils Chevrolet En-V Concept Car

General Motors has come up with a new and innovative concept car with a strange-looking EV concept which has been called the Chevrolet EN-V, or Electric Networked-Vehicle. This concept car is said to be a fuel-efficient car. The car features two seats and boasts of having a self-governing driving function which makes use of satellite navigation and sensor system.

General Motors first concept car having a similar concept was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto show in the year 2010. The company has made a number of modifications to this concept and has stated that the can now head towards production in the near future. The vice president of global Chevrolet marketing strategy has quoted that the Chevrolet brand has gone all the way in incorporating advanced technology for the purpose of making the live of its customers more comfortable for more than a decade. The Chevrolet EN-V concept car is one of the attempts made by the company for this endeavor.

The Chevrolet EN-V is said to be the right solution for consumers living in urban areas where alternative transportation solutions are required. The concept car features a fully electric lithium-ion powered powertrain. The powertrain is more than able to offer a full-charge range of around 40km. The car has an advanced body design as well as personal storage space.

An array of sensors is used by the concept car along with a vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology that is GPS-driven. These features sued in the car makes it possible to drive all by itself. According to General Motors this car is great for use to engage in meetings. It is also expected that the technology used in this car would soon become a hit and it would be imitated by other automobiles which would create an assortment of safer and cleaner vehicles.

Buenos Aires Gets First Glimpse Of The New Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan Concept.

Recently we saw the Chevrolet Cobalt being replaced with a more international Cruze Sedan in the USA market. The scenario for the car is however different In South America as it is doing pretty well here. The car that has been launched in this region is really a pre production concept car for the brand and it is one that is going to sweep the feet of the viewers away.

This concept car is one that has been developed by the technical center of General Motors in South America. It is scheduled to enter production sometime next year. There are no details of the chassis that has been revealed however there is an A Pillar that is a swept back one and the shape of its bonnet resembles the Chevrolet Sonic that is the Aveo sedan in the European market. There are some features of the car that may not find its way into the production like the intricate lights that are located at the back and the double exhaust that is integrated into the bumper.

The car makers have stated that the car is a global product and it will be provided to car lovers with the choice of four cylinders that range in its displacement of 1.3 to 1.8 liters that run on diesel, petrol or ethanol. The car will have both the automatic and the manual transmissions that are available.

In order to make the car look more attractive, GM has decided that the car be fixed with an aero kit that comprises of both aprons at the front and the rear and a lid spoiler that is a discreet one. The car rests on wheels that are 17 inches and wrapped in 255/45 R17 twin exhaust outlets that are made of rubber. The car makers also are going to introduce something that is more mundane and we just have to wait and watch to find out what it is!

Volkswagen Golf Has Become The Most Sold Model in Europe

By the end of the first six months of 2009 VW Golf has become the most sold model in Europe. According to Carscoop, with reference to Jato Dynamics, from the beginning of the year, Europeans have bought little bit more than 286 thousand “Golfs”.
In the second place is the model Ford Fiesta – in March 2009, this hatchback has managed to get ahead of VW Golf sales, but in April, May and June, “Fiesta” was sold a little worse than “Golf.” As a result, in six months in Europe 243 thousand of such cars were sold, which is 34.2 percent higher than a year earlier.
In the third place is Peugeot 207 (the demand for this model has fallen by 20 per cent), the fourth – Opel Corsa (minus 14.1 percent), and the fifth – Renault Clio (minus 28 per cent). The top ten ranking of the best-selling models in Europe is completed by Fiat Grande Punto, Ford Focus, Fiat Panda, Opel Astra and Peugeot 308.
In the rating of producers, on the basis of the first half of the year, the first place is held by Volkswagen Concern Volkswagen – 842 thousand 787 vehicles in six months. Next comes Ford (666 thousand 548 cars) and Renault (520 thousand 763 vehicles).
For comparison, in Russia the top three sales rankings by producers are the following – Lada, Chevrolet, Ford. In the Russian market Volkswagen is only on the 12th place.

“North American Car of the Year – 2010″ Candidates

The list of all candidates for the title of “Best car” and “Best SUV” of North America for the 2010 model year includes 37 cars, 12 of which are Japanese vehicles, 11 – Europe, 11 – an American, and 3 – South Korean, as informs Autoblog.

There will be a jury of 50 journalists on automotive topics from all over the world to evaluate the cars.

Notably, in the list of applicants for the victory was the model Suzuki Kizashi, which had not even been officially presented as a serial car, as well as the updated Honda Crosstour, the production of which the Japanese have not yet confirmed.

It is also worth noting that in the list of applicants there is not a single sample of American car brands such as Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep.

The results will be announced in the traditional Detroit auto show in January 2010. Winners will be announced, as usual, in two categories – passenger car and SUV.

GM Began Testing Hybrid Chevrolet Volt

The company General Motors has begun testing the preproduction prototype of “plug hybrid” Chevrolet Volt. According to the American edition of Automobile, the tests of the vehicle are conducted in an urban setting close to the testing center of the group in the city of Warren, Michigan. In the near future the company plans to build a total of 80 copies of hybrid Volt, which will continue testing until the model is available in the market.

Serial Chevrolet Volt is planned to be equipped with the hybrid power unit that includes a 150-strong motor and lithium-ion batteries. For charging the batteries in the move a 1.4-liter gasoline engine will be used. At the parking the car can be charged from ordinary household power supply. It is expected that one battery power will be sufficient to ensure Sedan Chevrolet Volt motion for approximately 64 kilometers.

The production of commodity Chevrolet Volt will be established at the Detroit GM plant in November of next year. According to preliminary data, the cost of such hybrids will be about 40 thousand dollars.

Chevrolet released the 1.5-millionth Corvette

On Thursday the company Chevrolet has distributed information on the release of the 1.5-millionth copy of Corvette supercar. The car came down the conveyor in the plant in Kentucky in late May of this year, but the message of this event was delayed by manufacturer due to bankruptcy of General Motors.

The jubilee car will be sent to the National Museum of “Corvettes”, where are also presented the very first Chevrolet Corvette, built in 1953, the 500000th copy (1977 release) and the millionth copy (1992). 1.5-millionth Chevrolet Corvette is made in the same colors as the predecessors – white body with red interior.

As reported at the museum, the first Corvette – roadster C1 – was introduced in 1953. The car was equipped with a six-motor power of 150 horsepower and automatic transmission. Modern versions are offered with a super eight engine capacity from 430 to 638 horsepower, working in pairs with six automatic or mechanical transmissions.
