And by “controversial,” we mean “disgusting.” Look, the R8 has those side blades because it’s a mid-engine car, but Audi felt they still need a place for a set of golf clubs, so they lengthened the cabin so the clubs can be stowed behind the seats. Meaning that the body has a whole lot of extra length in the middle. Rather than go all BMW and start torturing the hell out of the metal, they slapped on some pieces of plastic (fine, carbon fiber) and called it a day, leading to a look that some love and others loathe.

Now, the A5/S5 is a superbly beautiful car. From every angle, the seemingly minimalist design gets better and better. Especially when you run your eyes across the length of its rising and falling center line that runs from the front fenders past the doors only to terminate in the tail lamp. Just about pitch-perfect. Truly, one of the better designs this decade. German tuner Hofele Design (apparently) had but one simple mission: how to destroy it!

The results are self-evident. All those people that are moaning and complaining that their Audi A5 3.2s don’t look anything like a R8 V10 can now cease their protests. All two of them. Also, and we know this doesn’t need stating but here goes: why would you go through the trouble of mutating your car to the nth degree but then leave on the “A5″ and “3.2″ badges?

Most people who know Audis (i.e. the very people that might have an outside chance of being impressed by this) would agree that A5 and 3.2 stands for the automaker’s worst engine/transmission combination, the slow-revving 3.2-liter V6 that’s already been dropped from the new A4 and the numbskull six-speed Tiptronic box that likes to be in sixth gear by 39 mph. So, besides the raw, inharmonious phony aspect of the body kit (nice fake quad pipes) why on earth bother? Especially as the badge on the back says A5 and the one in the grille says S5. That’s a rhetorical question, because we all know there’s no answer/point. One more thing: the R8 Spyder doesn’t even have side blades. And hey, why not another: the camber on the rear wheel’s all messed up.

In September 2009, at the Frankfurt motor show, Audi has taken the wraps off concept electric supercar e-tron, built based on the R8 model.

This novelty has got four electric engines (two on each axis), the total output is 313 horsepower and maximum torque is 4500 Nm. The vehicle is also equipped with lithium-ion batteries, providing the vehicle movement of over 248 kilometers. According to Audi, the supercar concept can accelerate from zero to a hundred kilometers per hour in 4.8 seconds and from 60 to 120 kilometers per hour for 4,1 seconds. Due to the fact that with the growth of speed rate increases also the energy consumption for e-tron limited at around 200 kilometers per hour.

From common household electrical socket with a voltage of 230 volts the batteries are fully charged in six to eight hours, while on the move energy reserve in the batteries will be recharged through a system of energy recovery during braking.

In addition, the novelty has powerful brakes with ceramic discs. On the front axle of the vehicle there is a Hydraulic, and at the back an electromechanical floating calipers, which are activated without a mechanical or hydraulic impact, but only with the help of an electric signal. According to the Audi company, this system allows you to remove the residual losses due to arising friction when the brake pedal is released.

Audi e-tron is also equipped with a communication system Car-to-X, which allows the cars to communicate with each other. It can warn the driver of an emergency on the road ahead, find yourself a free parking space at the entrance to the shopping center, with the help of the navigation system to pave the route in such a way as to reduce energy consumption, as well as inform about the origin of traffic jams ahead.

We’d like to note that the company Audi has reported that currently the plan of the production line of electric vehicles is approved. In the range of the future mass-produced of electric vehicles will be a supercar, a roadster and a compact city car built on the basis of the concept car Volkswagen Up!

Masters at the tuner studio Caractere aim to make a convertible more stylish, to the extent possible, and add “a pinch of pepper” in the design, brighter expressing traits of aggressiveness in the guise of a car, writes WCF. The most notable changes have occurred in front of Audi A5/S5 cabriolet, which sports a new bumper with massive air and built anti-fog lamps. Open Edition Audi A5/S5 decorated cone nozzles and new exhaust system.

Of course, the studio tried to find the corresponding wheels for the vehicle, choosing the light alloy rims CW1 with dimension of 19 × 20 inches.

Audi has first proposed a diesel engine for the U.S. market in spring of this year. It was a big Audi Q7 TDI. This big seven-seat SUV has turned out to be the most economical in its class. And while buyers are increasingly consider purchasing a diesel Audi has just presented another compact hatchback A3.

Until now, Audi A3 was available to the United States buyers with only two engines: a2.0 liter V4 turbo engine and V6 3.2 liter one. Both engines work on gasoline. At the Detroit motor show the company has announced that the Audi A3 TDI will go on sale later this year, but we already had the opportunity to try it in motion.

Before the Audi A1, and possibly A2, will be widely available Audi A3 would conquer the world. Like the TT coupe and roadster, A3 shared some details with the Volkswagen, in particular with Golf and Jetta. Thus, Audi A3 is a C-segment car with transverse engine layout and a front or full drive.

Audi A3 bar is much better and stronger than that of the fellow Volkswagen. The interior of the cabin is dominated by black with aluminum inserts. All control systems are intuitive and easy to remember. But there appears to be a problem with the rear seats of the vehicle. While Audi declares that there will be enough space for two adult passengers, people with taller than average will be somewhat restrained by the drop-down roof of the car.

A car with the sports features should have an appropriate management system. And the Audi A3 TDI has it. The seats with excellent lateral support are made of Alcantara, appliances are well read, and a thick steering wheel fits perfectly in a driver’s hands.

The turbo-diesel engine of the car has already been tested by the company for Volkswagen Jetta and the Golf VI, so that it is not so new. But it was not in vain that it has been installed at the Audi A3 TDI as it is well-proven. The power of the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine makes 140 hp and torque of 320 Nm at 1750 rpm. The Europeans could choose a strong version of the 170 engine. But that is a surplus, as 140 power is enough for sport riding. As for the transmission, the car uses 6-speed automatic gearbox S-Tronic DSG. Ther are switches are on the handlebars to control the transmission.

When driving, we try to fully test the car. In the end, it passed the test with excellent results. The car is well-balanced, and even with sharp turns at high speed sticks to the road all four wheels. If we compare it with the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, Audi is clearly ahead with its sustainability. Electronics intervenes only as much, as much it needs and gives the driver an opportunity to enjoy driving. When driving in the dark adaptive xenon headlights illuminate the road well, and we have no difficulty moving with a fairly high speed.

During our testing we tried to go not only for the polygon and included highways and city streets to our itinerary. As a result, the average fuel consumption was 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers. But if you do not press gas permanently you can reduce costs up to 5.9 liters per hundred km. By the way, during the demonstration Marathon Audi A3 TDI has spent only 4.7 liters.

Audi did not announce prices yet. Most likely, they will be available closer to the beginning of sales.

Apparently, designers from the AVUS Performance wish to avoid any false rumors, as in the case of a car RS6 Avant ‘White Power’, the name of which is widely discussed in the press. This is the main reason why the German tuning-studio opted for a simple and reliable name for his new work, called A5 Coupe Matte Black. Smooth cover of the entire body of the car was obtained through the special matte black material and the black color of certain parts, such as the radiator grille, the surface of the side mirrors and rear diffuser.

The image of the new A5 Coupe also stresses the set of 21-inch Jofiel black Limited Edition rims (9,5 × 21 “front and 11 × 21″ rear) as well as a set of rear LED lights to update S5.

Under the hood the AVUS Performance A5 Coupe has a 3.0 liter V-type 6-cylinder diesel unit from Audi, which features a modified electronic engine control unit, due to which the output of the black coupe is 275 hp and 600 Nm (442.48 lb / ft) of torque. In addition, German tuning company has equipped the A5 coupe with a set of springs and shock absorbers from KW, which allows regulating the stiffness of suspension springs and reverse.
