After making its debut at the Frankfurt Show in the United States, Ian Callum’s handsome C-X16 concept car will be an amazing sight for the sore eyes at the LA Auto Show.

The C-x16 is actually based on a cut and shut XK coupe chassis, but the legendary Coventry development team under Mike Cross will be making sure that it handles like a sports car. In Callum’s words this concept car is described to be a real hard car.

The C-X16 is a compact, rear wheel drive coupe with 50:50 weight distributions. Although a concept car at present, a production version would be likely to cost in the region of 50,000 pounds.

The specification of the Jaguar concept car is not that complicate for you to understand. The capacity of the engine is 2995cc with six cylinders and twin scroll superchargers. The transmission of the engine is 8- speed with an integrated electric motor. With a power of 70kW and a horse power of 95, its hybrid ‘push to pass’ system is the real performer in the car.

The construction of the car has been made out of aluminum. The body shell of the C-X16 uses techniques derived from the aerospace industry. It is a unique combination of lightness, strength and torsional rigidity which in turn result son greater handling agility, faster acceleration, shorter braking distances and improved fuel economy in comparison with an equivalent steel bodied car.

The interior of the car is very appealing and attractive. It clearly focuses on the driver. The design has been incorporated after being inspired from the lay out of aeronautical ergonomics, such as the joy stick style gear lever and banks of toggle switches that also replicates the classic racing Jaguar.

This new production car has been regarded by the company to be the precursor of all the future sports cars of the brand. It has been labeled a new benchmark with respect to the dynamics of the vehicle, the design and the technology of the car. The brand has not released much detail to the Press however there are reports that have given way to the fact that this new concept car is a brief version of the much awaited next generation XK Platform and the same team behind the cars of XJ,XF and XK are behind its design and make.

The entire project has been headed by Ian Callum who is the Jaguar Director of Design. There is much anticipation with the car as Jaguar is known to make cars that really stand out and sparkle in the crowd. The car will have the V6 block that will also be supercharged with other variants in order to make things better. It is expected that this car will be released towards the end of 2012. There is no news on whether the makers of the car will be able to ensure its production version by then. Among all the other segment winners the Jaguar Hybrid Supercar C-X75 got the highest score in the car, truck and the production preview categories of the Awards ceremony. The  brand with this award gets its third concept car award and first “most significant concept vehicle” award. It was way back in the year 2005 where the Jaguar ALC Concept won the title and the C-XF in the year 2007.

The objective of the above Awards is to give recognition to those vehicles that are likely to shape the future or cars in the automobile industry. This year saw the competition have around 2 dozen jurors participating in the selection process that has 29 vehicles that were introduced in the selection process during the auto shows of the season held in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto and New York. The finalists in the show were the Audi Quattro, the Porsche 918 RSR Hybrid and the Mazda Shinari.

One of the main jurors in the competition stated that the Jaguar C-X75 is one of the most magnificent cars to have been produced. It is visually arresting and has a kind of aggressive elegance. The design director of the car stated that they were proud of the car’s achievement and the brand is always making an endeavor to make its cars stand out in the market all for the right reasons. It is a clear statement of the brand to make cars that are bold, very beautiful and innovative at the same time. The brand focuses on the performance of their cars in the market to ensure driver satisfaction to all!

The brand wants to make this car one of the best supercars that money is able to buy. The production is scheduled to take place at the company’s plant at Castle Bromwichin West Midlands. The outlet at Oxfordshire F1 outfit will use their expert knowledge in the field of the car’s body construction and aerodynamics.

The original concept car had used two micro gas turbines that were diesel fed to re-charge the batteries. This renders power to four electric motors that had one on each wheel. This led to a car that had the capability to produce 778 bhp with the four wheel drive. The car is one that has an effcective range of 550 miles. It has the capacity to go for 60 miles solely on battery. This car is one that only emitted 28 grams of carbon dioxide for each kilometer.

The production version of the car will be one that is slightly toned down. The company has stated that the gas turbines are not going to feature of the new production version. The car instead will feature a 1.6 liter turbo-charged engine that will be a super –charged one and it will be in sync with the Formula 1 regulations of 2013.

This concept car makes use of electric motors and micro-turbines in conjunction with hybrid power train because of which it is possible for the car to pick up the pace from 0 to 60 miles per hour in even below 3 seconds. Anther chief feature of Jaguar C-X75 model to be launched is that it has a trimmed petrol engine that can charge its battery. Every engineering facet has been kept in mind while designing this car model. It is reported that the car has been designed aerodynamically. Concept Car Jaguar C-X75 which is about to go under production has the same interiors as the model shown in the motor show held in Paris. It has been reported by the company that would be producing only 250 models of this car. The car is expected to give tough competition to other luxury car models like Porsche 918 and upcoming Audi E-Tron and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG EDrive. There is a possibility that this car model will be launched with a different name that would be more appropriate than Jaguar C-X75.

Though the full details of the drive train have not been released, the car will consists of small-capacity with highly boosted internal combustion engine with one powerful electric motor at each hinge and this is why it will have four-wheel drive. It will also be proficient of an electric-only range of 50km and achieve the target emissions of less 99g/km C02. The performance approximates for the production car comprise a sub-three second 0–60mph acceleration time and a top speed in excess of 200mph.

The group engineering director of jaguar Land Rover named Bob Joyce said that the compact size of the engine permits it to be accumulated low in the car for best weight distribution and to keep the concepts stunning outline. It will also make the Jaguar C-X75 a bona fide hybrid supercar that is capable of silent electric running.

The high ranged Jaguar looks likely to compete with Porsche’s hybrid car, the 918 Spyder, which is production version that was launched in the last month and also set the launch price for 2013. Porsche declares the 918 will be capable of a 3.2 second 0–62mph time and a high speed of 199mph with a fuel efficiency of 94mpg and emissions rating of 70g/km of CO2.

The new diesel XF car has been unveiled in India and it has also been customized by the special Jaguar engineers in the United Kingdom for the Indian consumers. This was announced by the head of Tata Motors Rohit Suri.

Rohit Suri had declined to share ant car sales target for the car model and the total portfolio of the company. He was positive that the company would be able to do well with the car in the developing Indian market.

During the last fiscal the company has sold about 242 units of the car and it currently has bout three dealerships. The company also has plans to open ten more additional showrooms within the end of this fiscal. Last year the company had launched the supercharged XFR and the 5 litre XF petrol version in India.

When Suri was asked about the assembling of the land rover vehicles in the market, he answered that the company was already looking into the issue and stated that the assembling of the Land Rover products in the country would be done by the middle of next year.

It is a matter of time when this will happen. It is possible that we should get used to the idea that future cars will be completely different from those to which we are accustomed.
