The car will be a prototype of a new generation minivan FR-V. The premiere of the new concept car from Honda called Skydeck took place at Tokyo Motor Show last week.

This Honda Skydeck concept car is a six-seater minivan with three rows of seats. The third row can be folded, thereby gaining additional space for luggage. Seats of the second row with the help of actuators move back and forth.

Although, Honda officials have stated that there are no plans for production, rumor has it the Skydeck previews the next generation FR-V MPV.

Honda Skydeck has unusual front panel, which is focused in front of the driver and gives more space for the front passenger. The first two rows of seats are located under a huge panoramic roof that adds visual space vehicle of the cabin. Separate topic of conversation is the car doors. The front ones are opened up in the style of Lamborghini, rear ones are shifted back.

Externally the car looks sporty and fast, thanks to the low landing. Unlike ordinary minivans, roof of Honda Skydeck smoothly moves into a small rear spoiler. Instead of rear mirrors the concept has received cameras, which are placed rather high.

Under the hood of the car there is a hybrid engine, but its characteristics have not been announced yet.

Learning about the future of this car, most motorists got frustrated – the exterior of this concept car is too extra-ordinary which looks like a face of a pug puppy.

Fuel to the fire of dispute about this concept poured engineers from Honda, who added to these retro exterior modern technologies taking into account the problem of the air pollution in future.

This concept was created under the influence of N360 – the car that Honda produced in the 60’s of the last century. EV-N is 1,475 mm in width and less than three meters in length and in the cabin there is room for 4 people.

The car runs on electricity. On the roof are panels that collect solar energy, which feeds the on-board electronics. In addition, EV-N is equipped with a HELLO system, which allows the model to “communicate” with other cars.

The American edition of Consumer Reports tested 22 vehicles – hatchback and universal. After calculating the scores it was revealed that the newly born low-cost hybrid Honda Insight won the penultimate place on quality. According to the source it was ahead of only the Dodge Caliber.

“Insight – is the biggest disappointment of all Honda brand cars, which we have ever tested” – said David Champion, Senior Director of Test Center for Consumer Reports.

The experts, who conducted the testing of the vehicles, came to the conclusion that the Insight is a bustling and hard car with bad control system, and bears no resemblance to the Honda Fit, on the basis of which it has been created. It was also marked with a minus that the system of exchange stability is available only in the EX masthead integration.

As a result, Honda Insight has taken 21st place in the rating with only 54 points, overtaking Caliber with its 49 points. Leaders in the ranking compiled by Consumer Reports, have become the universals: Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen (80 points) and the Hyundai Elantra Touring (79 points).

The representative of Honda Chuck Schifsky commented on the results of tests as follows: “Comments on the car from the Honda Insight buyers and automotive media have been very positive. The fact is, Insight has won several comparative test drives for hybrid vehicles, conducted by independent publications, including Car and Driver, Edmunds.com and Motor Trend”.

He mentioned that the Insight is now the “most affordable hybrid in the U.S. market” and “one of the most economical of 5-seater cars.”

Company Mugen Motorsports, involved in the transformation of mass-produced cars of the Honda brand in the performance of various sports cars, is going to release a special version of the Civic Type R model. The car, sharpened by the race track, will receive the engine powered with about 240 hp, while its main competitors in the market of Europe will become Ford Focus RS and Renault Megane R26R.

In Mugen believe that the market of charged hatches in Europe is very promising, as there are many fans of small sports cars, ready to give for them a lot of money. For example, last week Honda gathered the owners of Type R in England, and found out that there are about 50 people who spent more than £ 90 000 ($ 147 000) for the tuning of their hatchback.

The implementation of a special Type R will begin in England. Presumably for the £ 35 000 – £ 40 000 ($ 57 000 – $ 65 000) the company will offered a Mugen Civic Type R with a 2.0-liter 240-strong engine with a proprietary system, VTEC, with a carboxylic body Kit, which sports a simple interior design (without rear seats). Of course, this price also includes the exclusivity: only a few dozen of the vehicles will be released.

Recall that in Japan, Mugen has already produced a limited series of 300 sedans Honda Civic Type R Mugen RR, which were sold out in just 10 minutes.
