The British magazine Autocar published the first image of the serial version of Saab 9-5 sedan of new generation, whose world premiere will be held in September this year at Frankfurt Motor Show.
The appearance of the front part of the body of the new Saab 9-5 will be implemented according to the concept of retribution-Aero-X, first shown three years ago. Saab will get it’s platform from Opel Insignia, but in comparison with the German “donor” the car will undergo a modernization – the wheelbase of the Swedish sedan will be increased by about 10 centimeters. In addition, two types of suspension will be offered for new vehicle – from the standard “Insignia with conventional McPherson and a “charged “versions of OPC, the construction of which could reduce the effect of power steering in rapid acceleration. Also, buyers can order for a car a full drive model system for 9-5.
In the range of engines of new generation Saab 9-5 will be three 2-liter diesel engine powered up to 160 horsepower, as well as the ruler of gasoline units, ranging from 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and ending with “six” volume 2.8 liters. In addition, the car will have a hybrid version with power plant, which combines a 1.4-liter gasoline and automatic engines.
The production of the sedan starts at the factory in Trollhettan in early 2010. By the end of the year 9-5 “universal” body version of the model will be produced, and then a four-hatchback, which will compete with the Audi A5 Sportback. In 2011-2012 years the next generation Saab 9-3 a new crossover 9-4X, as well as a compact hatchback, which is to rival the Audi A3 and VW Golf will be available in the market.
