Porsche Panamera Turbo sets new Nurburgring record

2009-porsche-panamera-turbo-exterior-interior-5Porsche Panamera Turbo hatchback, which was driven by the well-known racer and test pilot of ”Porsche” Walter Rerl, set a new record – the ” North loop” of Nurburgring, having covered the track in 7 minutes and 56 seconds.

The car was more than three seconds ahead of the “charged” sedan Cadillac CTS-V, which since May of the last year was considered to be the fastest four-door series car on that track.

The full power Porsche Panamera Turbo hatchback is equipped with a 4.8-liter eight-cylinder turbo engine of a capacity equal to 500 hp and the maximum torque is 700 Nm (with the optional Sports Chrono Package the latter index in short-term regime of boosting up the pressure of the supercharge increases to 770 Nm). According to the manufacturer, Panamera gathers speed in 4.2 seconds and its top speed is 303 kilometers per hour from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour. The “charged” sedan Cadillac CTS-V is replenished with 556-strong 6.2-litre V8 with mechanical blowers.

Along with Porsche Panamera almost the same running time on Nürburgring was shown by such supercars as Dodge Viper SRT-10 and Chevrolet Corvette (7 minutes 59 seconds), as well as Ferrari F430 (7 minutes 55 seconds).
