Japanese Mitsubishi Motors started the serial production of electric i MiEV. The vehicle can be charged from a home outlet. Four door small hatchback, which is fitted with efficient lithium ion batteries, can reach a speed up to 130 km/h and the battery is able to overcome about 160 km.
With the help of quick-charging device the “refuel” of i MiEV takes just about half an hour. In the home charging using a network of 200 will require a 7 hours, while in Japan, where the stress in the household electric system is 100 V, this time will be doubled reaching up to 14 hours.
Taking into account government subsidies for environmentally friendly electric cars cost for the Mitsubishi all electric car in Japan is expected to be about 30 thousand dollars.
First, the new vehicle will be sold in the UK and Hong Kong, where right drive cars are used. i MiEV with the left drive is expected to appear in European market in late 2010 and soon after in the United States.
