U.S. experts did not like the cheap hybrid version of Honda Insight

2010 Honda Insight EXThe American edition of Consumer Reports tested 22 vehicles – hatchback and universal. After calculating the scores it was revealed that the newly born low-cost hybrid Honda Insight won the penultimate place on quality. According to the source it was ahead of only the Dodge Caliber.

“Insight – is the biggest disappointment of all Honda brand cars, which we have ever tested” – said David Champion, Senior Director of Test Center for Consumer Reports.

The experts, who conducted the testing of the vehicles, came to the conclusion that the Insight is a bustling and hard car with bad control system, and bears no resemblance to the Honda Fit, on the basis of which it has been created. It was also marked with a minus that the system of exchange stability is available only in the EX masthead integration.

As a result, Honda Insight has taken 21st place in the rating with only 54 points, overtaking Caliber with its 49 points. Leaders in the ranking compiled by Consumer Reports, have become the universals: Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen (80 points) and the Hyundai Elantra Touring (79 points).

The representative of Honda Chuck Schifsky commented on the results of tests as follows: “Comments on the car from the Honda Insight buyers and automotive media have been very positive. The fact is, Insight has won several comparative test drives for hybrid vehicles, conducted by independent publications, including Car and Driver, Edmunds.com and Motor Trend”.

He mentioned that the Insight is now the “most affordable hybrid in the U.S. market” and “one of the most economical of 5-seater cars.”
